Well, today was the first day of school! It went so well.
We started about 8:30 and we were finished by a little after 10. Of course, I can't get too used to that, as the first 10 days with this curriculum is just foundational/introductory. I guess some days will be fairly quick and some will be more full of activity and that is just fine! We made a special folder of completed activities to show to Daddy and we hung some things on the wall. Tomorrow I think we are going to have to get the play-doh out, as both Aidan and Alora asked for play-doh time.
I think Aidan thinks that we need to use all our supplies everyday. He was asking when paint time was, when we were going to use the play-doh, etc. Hopefully he will realize that each day is something different, but everyday is fun.
Alora and Aralyn did pretty well today while we did school. I think it will be nice for them to get some girl-time in while we are doing school. They play pretty well together, but sometimes they don't get much time just the two of them.
--------------------------
We had a pretty good weekend. We started by spending the night in the tent with our children and their cousins, Jacob and Elizabeth. It had rained a bit and so it wasn't too hot for sleeping outside, but Aralyn and I woke up a bit congested, as we share the same allergies! I woke up also with a bit of a crick in my neck. Too old to sleep on the ground?!
Saturday was pretty laid back. We did some housework and watched a movie while it rained.
Sunday we had some visitors at church. It was nice to have them there, as Adam's parents were out of town returning the cousins to their parents. We had two families come, 3 adults and 3 children. Aidan, Alora, and Aralyn, I am sure enjoyed having some children in class with them.
Afterwards, we all went to Duke's. It is our Sunday tradition to go there, and the food was great yesterday, as always! Everyone enjoyed it and we all had a great time! It is great to have friends come and show support of our family. God is GREAT!

I have been looking for some matching outfits for the me and the girls. I found some dresses that I really love from Hanna Andersson, but they are a bit pricey, so I am just window shopping right now. I would love to have our picture taken in the fall, but want to find something for us all to wear first.

Aidan's birthday is coming up. He can't decide what theme he wants. Bowling (thanks to his friend, Gracie), gymnastics (thanks to his friends, Avery and Carter), Larry Boy, MegaMan, Cars, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles, and Buzz Lightyear have all been in the running in the past few months. We need to nail something down!

I'm glad the first day went well! It's so fun~and frustrating sometimes~to try & nail down the birthday ideas!
Glad to hear it's going so well. We won't be starting Ben off for a few more weeks, but have already started having him work on his "review" pages in his books. And we read the first chapter of "The Magician's Nephew" and did the review questions. That's the part he's looking forward to the most, I think.
